I make this from scratch using alkanet root. It brings out the beauty of walnut and especially fine walnut. Alkanet root has been used for hundreds of years and by London's great gun makers. I've sold hundreds of bottles and have yet to have anything but praise. It's a large 4oz bottle that can do several guns. It is linseed oil based so can be used as a topcoat if desired although I do offer a foul weather gloss varnish as well. It's perfect for those that desire to be true to the period.
