Description:
SOLD.. Decent antique Smith & Wesson 2nd model with holster. Here is a pretty decent ole Smith & Wesson 2nd model with holster. Has the standard 3 1/4" barrel. In .38 S&W caliber of course. S/N 21539 and ALL matching.. The finish shows wear from use but no abuse. The barrel has about 35% original finish. The cylinder also has about 35% finish and the frame has about 75% finish. The balance of the metal is a smooth gray to medium brown patina. Never cleaned on or messed with. NO pitting on the gun. The mechanics are excellent. A very crisp and tight  gun...Rock solid barrel to frame fit. Barrel latch retains 50% blue. No blue left on the trigger. Case colors on the hammer have faded to mostly gray patina. The grips are very nice but show lots of wear to the checkering and what looks like an excellent repair to the bottom right panel. You would not know it if I not tell you as the repair is very near un noticeable. Does not detract from this ole pocket revolver and it is very common to see the chips out of the bottoms of these S&W revolvers as the edge is very close to the alinement pin in the frames. Bad design by S&W !!. The grips are original to the gun and have a perfect factory fit. The markings are excellent. The screws are excellent with sharp slots but the latch screw only shows some use. The bore is very good with sharp and strong rifling and has a couple spots of pitting. The chambers are excellent. I will try to give them a good scrubbing and might clean to better. This gun would shoot just fine and accurate with proper black powder loads of course. Un touched front sight. A very decent little revolver and much better than the dirt brown no finish ones that you see. The holster is solid but very stiff. Might loosen up with some treatment. It is the double loop design with tight stitching throughout. NO rips or tears anywhere. By the looks of the contour, a S&W 2nd model has been in it for quite some time as the end of the muzzle and the lug on the bottom of the barrel and the trigger are contoured perfectly to this model. I of course can not say that this holster was made for this model. It just has had this model of revolver in it for a long time. They came together when I bought them so they will sell together.  A lot of these small frame revolvers were carried in holsters as that was a much more stable way to carry them and not having them flop around in your pocket.. Nothing great here but a nice little set that fits perfectly together for wear and finish to the gun at a very reasonable price. An affordable set that shows some actual honest use and no abuse and did not set around in a dresser drawer it’s whole life. $15 insured shipping. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions of more photos.
