Description:
This is an excellent example of a 135 year old English hammer gun. It was handcrafted by G. W. Bales in Ipswitch, England sometime prior to 1883 (per Boothroyd). 30" Damascus barrels are choked Cyl/Full with unmodified 2.5" chambers. Gorgeous English walnut stock that shows only normal handling marks for a 135 year old gun. Checkered buttstock with heel and toe clips. All engraving and checkering is still sharp, and you can see traces of case color on the locks. The action is tight, and on face. No serial number. I have used this gun with appropriate loads to down pheasants. Unaltered examples like this are getting very hard to come by. Shoot with the Society of Edwardian Gunners? This gun will turn heads at every shoot.... TERMS: Please ask any and all questions before purchasing, as all sales are final.
