Description: Historically recognized as the first American production revolver using a metalic cartridge , produced by Smith & Wesson. Serial # 1245 is a very early example of the Model One, "Third Type". The major change being the "spring loaded latch with side projections". The barrel hinge is solid with no cracks and latches tightly to the frame with no wobble or play. Original silver finish on the gun. The mechanics are also in good working order. Hammer cocks and cylinder indexes and locks on the stop notches. FINE ORIGINAL CONDITION OVERALL. This historically significant S&W shows well in a vintage Reproduction Flag Case. These revolvers are a fantastic piece of history, given there rarity and impact on the World, as one of America's First Cartridge revolvers.
