Winchester 1886 .45-70. Half round, half octagon barrel. Nice shiny bore, no pits. Gun was engraved by Al Kontout after it left the factory. Al Kontout is favorably mentioned in Larry Wilson’s Book “Winchester Engraving” 1975 1st Edition Page 360 and is said to have studied under Winchester engravers, quickly mastering the art, as is evident on this gun. Forend stock has shrunk about 1/16”. No cracks in wood. Tight, solid action. Tang sight with combination front sight.
