General Specs: Winchester, Year 1942, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 8oz, Side by Side Serial Number: 16319 Most double gun enthusiasts are well aware of the reputation earned by the Winchester Model 21; a gun of far superior strength and mechanical genius that was under the micro management of John Olin himself. With only 32,000 produced (compared to 250,000 Parkers!), any Model 21 is a valuable, investment quality firearm sure to appreciate as you enjoy its use. Add the "Deluxe Grade" features and you truly have a treasure, as the Deluxe Grade was custom built to the customers specs, and came standard with nicely figured wood, checkered to 22 LPI in a special Deluxe checkering pattern (Standard Grades were 18 LPI), ALL INTERNAL PARTS WERE SPECIALLY HAND POLISHED TO PROVIDE THE FINEST FUNCTIONING DOUBLE SHOTGUN POSSIBLE, with brutish strength to handle even the stoutest Magnum loads. Winchester changed the name of this very special built Model 21 several times, as it was originally labeled the "Custom Built Grade" then the "Deluxe Grade" and lastly the "Custom Deluxe Grade". All were superior models to their standard offerings. This gun, sn16319 built in 1942 for Abercrombie & Fitch, comes with Cody Firearms Museum documentation that it was a true "Deluxe Field" Grade, shipped with desirable IC/M chokes, and was special ordered to be a particularly LIGHTWEIGHT MODEL 21 with a splinter forend. Most all Model 21 16ga. guns will weigh between 6 3/4lbs. and 7 1/4lbs., which is heavy for a 16ga. ON RARE OCCASION A MODEL 21 SHOWS UP THAT FEELS LIKE A LIVELY UPLAND BIRD GUN. THIS IS ONE OF THEM WEIGHING IN AT 6 1/2LBS., AT LEAST 1/4 LB. TO 3/4LB. LIGHTER THAN MOST. That is significant when walking miles in the field in pursuit of winged prey. A VERY RARE FIND! This gun has been fully and properly restored, the action has been stripped and cleaned in the ultra-sonic cleaner, inspected, properly lubricated and reassembled. It is ready for another several generations of adventures!
