Description:
Reduced. NWMP Winchester 1876 carbine. Caliber 45/75. Serial number 44164. It has a very readable "NWMP" cartouche mark on the shoulder stock along with the number "19" beneath it. It also has the cartouche "LOF 184". LOF indicates it was also issued to the Legion of Frontiersmen. The carbine's rear sight is a Spanish Meter variety. The wood is well above average one typically finds on these guns, with some nice tiger striping on both sides of the shoulder stock. The wood has numerous dings and dents, but none are very severe. There are no cracks. The wood is proud and appears un-sanded; however, a protective coat of varnish was likely applied at some time in the past. The percentage of remaining bluing is about 5 to 10 percent. The barrel is stamped "Cal 45-75" behind the rear sight. The bore is mostly shiny with good rifling, and with some light pitting near the muzzle. The action functions perfectly. I have shot this gun with some mild smokeless loads and it as quite accurate. It has a nice yellow patina carrier block with "45-75" stamped on it. It comes with a Winchester letter. It is an antique so it can be shipped directly to you. Will consider lay-a-way purchase. This gun has an appointment 20 April at an house in Rock Island IL. Call and see if we can make a deal, and save me a 6 hour drive.
