Description:
Serial #29868, .22 LR, 25” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a superbly crafted single-shot rifle, using a Swiss K-31 infantry carbine as a basis, but with a conventional Anschutz Model 57 bolt action receiver. The rifle has retained 99% of the original blue finish with only some faint traces of silvering along a few of the high edges and projections, while the brightly finished bolt with blued handle is in excellent shape. The stock and handguard likewise have only some minor handling marks and bruises in the attractive commercial grade semi-gloss finish. The rifle has a fixed magazine housing, and the standard front and rear sights, but supplementary, high precision adjustable Anshutz rear target sight with Gehmann aperature has also been installed. A moderately worn, but still serviceable original Swiss leather sling is installed. Many Swiss K-31 rifles were converted for target work after their replacement and subsequent removal from reserve status. Some of them were given precision Anschutz actions like this example, and are a very rarely encountered in the U.S. This example is in excellent, little-used condition and would make a terrific, and highly accurate, addition to any collection.
