Description:
Serial #A4213, .22 L.R., 25” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This was originally an Enfield-made, 1915 dated rifle that has conversion markings on the wrist band: “22 IV*” stamped below the original production markings and BSA crossed rifles on the knox form. The metal of this nice rifle retains 85-90% of the armory blue finish applied during the conversion and has plum-brown freckling and gray fading along the high edges and surfaces, particularly on the matching numbered bolt handle, matching nosecap, sight protectors, and the still-present volley sight plate. The receiver & Barrel have matching large “C (Broad Arrow)” Canadian property stamp which is repeated on the wood on the right side of the butt. The stock and handguards have numerous light-moderate handling marks under the armory added military oil finish, and an “HWC” marked, Cooey Pattern 10A aperture rear sight is installed. A “.22” marked magazine body is also included and the rifle rates fine condition overall. This is a splendid Canadian SMLE trainer. {Ref. “The Lee-Enfield A Century of Lee-Metford & Lee-Enfield Rifles & Carbines” by Ian Skennerton; 2007} FFL or C&R
