Description:
This is an all original as issued Irwin Pedersen carbine. The Carbine's serial number is 1765621. These carbines were never accepted by the government under Irwin Pedersen Control. After takeover by Saginaw Gear of Grand Rapids Michigan and re inspection these carbines were then issued for service. Saginaw Gear of Grand Rapids used up all usable IP parts even using these parts in guns manufactured by Saginaw Gear itself. It is very common to find Irwin Pedersen and Saginaw Gear Grand Rapids parts mixed in these Irwin Pedersen carbines. This parts mixing is completely correct. I have been told that no complete Irwin Pedersen carbines have ever been accepted by the ordnance board. The barrel was made by Underwood in 10-42 as Irwin Pedersen did not make their own barrels. The rear flip sight is IP coded. The Complete flat bolt is by S'G' The operating rod is by S'G'. The trigger housing is also by S'G'. The dog leg hammer is by IP as well as the sear. The safety and magazine release are also coded IP. The trigger is S'G' coded. The stock and forend is S'G' coded. The buttplate is IP coded as well as the oiler. The recoil plate is S'G' coded. The sling slot is UI over stamped UP coded. The magazine is S'G' coded. This carbine shows service use. There is no sign of abuse just honest war time use. The sling appears to be the original as issued sling for this carbine. There is no sign of refinish or rework. Most Irwin Pedersen carbines seen today have been rebuilt or restored. This is an all original as issued carbine. This is an incredibly rare M1 Carbine with very few ever produced. Here is a original IP carbine for the advanced Carbine collector! Search for Harry Viezens on google.
