Shiva Ki original Gung-Ho knife ( the original buckskin lanyard has never been replaced) was made in August 1985 ( handle consists of two ivory slabs ) at the request of knife editor extraordinary Jim Shults who tested and evaluated over 200 custom knives from the best US and foreign makers ( guess whose knife came out first in all tests ?) in the impossible to locate today " GUNG-HO CUSTOM KNIFE HANDBOOK " which came out in March 1986. His write up on Shiva was a work-of-art, something that defies logic to these days ! If a better blade was ever made it was probably forged in Hell... Shiva never reproduced the Gung-Ho as it appeared in the artilce since it was solely made for Shults and it is a prototype. Because of a deadline and having been contacted by Shults at the very last minute, Shiva did not have time to etch the Samurai steel blade, therefore he put a high mirror finish on it. Comes with three scabbards : original, a replacement and one made for Shults with a fancy basket weave motif by a renowned Colorado saddler, the original rare and signed copy of the magazine,the original black and white photograph of the Gung-Ho seen in it , a special color group shot of all the fighting/combat models used in the artilcle and a signed provenance letter from Shults. A word of caution : Shiva 's knives are all flesh-eater..... if you cut yourself with any of his knives you will need many stitches or worst ! One can see a close-up of some of the writing by Shults in a posted photograph-be prepared to be blown away. By far the sharpest knife ever sheathed-Shiva does offer free sharpening-re-finishing, cleaning to anyone who owns his knives as long as you make sure to send him the appropriate funds to return your parcel ! This is a one-of-a-kind knife which holds historical significance as it was made only for the artilcle by Louisiana Guru Master Shiva Ki. Respect that cutting edge or it will bite you in a blinding flash..... you've been warned ! Thanks for looking.
