#18401, William Evans, 67 A St. James's Street, London S.W.1: A Virtually New Evans Boxlock Ejector 12 Bore Game Gun Made in 1961 with 30" Ejector Dovetail Lump Barrels, Webley, Birmingham Nitro Proved at 3 1/4 tons with 2 3/4" chambers, The bores at .732 .021 & .043" (Mod. & Full), 2 3/4" chambers, Wall thickness on the right at .033" and left at .032", Double triggers, Splinter forend with an Anson release, Straight hand stock at 16 1/16 x 1 1/4 x 1 7/8" over a checkered butt, Cast-On for the left hand, 6 lbs. 11 oz., 65% coverage of very nice scroll engraving that is very well cut, It retains 100% original case colors, The original barrel blue at 98% with the barrel striking as sharp as you could hope for, The buttstock and forend remain at 97%, The checkering remains at 100%, The barrels inside & out are virtually new. I am not sure if this gun has ever been fired, if it has I can assure you it was very little. This is like walking out of Evans in 1961 with your new cased 12 bore.  The whole is cased in the makers leather cornered canvas trunk with a full set of accessories. This my friends is one flat out honest British boxlock with absolute original bore size, correct chamber length, original wall thickness and all of its life left in it. ////////////////////////////// Mr. William Evans worked at both Purdey and Holland & Holland and started at 91a Buckingham Palace Road in 1883 and the firm was Gunmakers to H. R. H. Duke of Connaught. On February 23rd, 1944, just before 10.45pm, a wartime bomb killing 8 civilians and wounding more than 50 others hit Pall Mall. The company's premises at No 63 were badly damaged and, as a result, the company was forced to move around the corner to 67A St. James's Street where it has remained ever since and still operates to this day. Check out their very nice at williamevans.
