Description:
Serial #130398, .38 Colt, 4 1/2” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a 1902-made revolver that has matching numbers with the barrel and ejector retaining 85% plus of the original bright blue finish that has mottled dark brown freckling and gray fading at the muzzle end as well as running along the exterior radius of the ejector housing. Additional specks of gray metal with tiny pinprick pits are present along the underside of the barrel as well. The cylinder and trigger guard/gripstraps retain a similar amount of the original blue with the frame having most of the original bright color case-hardening remaining, although there is a small amount of pitting on the topstrap that seems to have been caused by contact with cloth over a long period. Possibly a case lining. The hammer and trigger retain most of their bright nitre blue finish as do the screw heads on the frame. The checkered hard rubber grips are numbered to the gun on the interior and are in fine shape with only a few very minor handling marks and some mild flattening of the points. The mechanism is tight and fully functional, unusual for a Lightning, and the revolver is a handsome example that would compliment any collection. FFL or C&R
