Description:
Converted from an 1853 patt Enfield,NSN is an un-named commercial MKIII snider rifle. This piece shows a 25 commercial code and London proofs on the barrel. The bore is bright excellent. The barrel shows the rear sight mounted 1/8" forward of the breech. This appears to be the as built sight position. The action is surplus military showing military inspector marks and broad arrows, WD marks.In addition there is stamping SLI over 43 on the tang which is likely to show Gov. approval for competition shoots. The stock is the P-1853 pattern with the spring band retainers and has a repaired chip to the left of the tang. There is no evidence of military marks and it appears to be strictly commercial. The lock is commercial and is devoid of any crown or any other markings. Overall this early snider rates as very good plus. Antique
