Description:
Serial #6016c, 8mm Mauser, 19 1/4? barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a ?dot/1942? (Waffenwerk, Brunn) coded carbine that has approximately 90-92% of the original blue finish remaining that has faded for about 1? at the muzzle and silvered along the high edges and projections. There is some further gray fading along the body, handle, and bearing surfaces of the matching numbered bolt as well. Some further fading occurs along the edges of the trigger guard and on the edges of the floor plate. The laminated wood stock and handguard are in very good-near fine condition with numerous minor handling marks and small surface bruises consistent with light use, and the cupped buttplate and ?gebirgstruppen? (mountain troops) plate have a dull pewter gray patina with some minor freckling and a small amount of brown freckling as well. The carbine comes with its original metal cleaning rod and a rubber muzzle cap. These handy little carbines were a slightly modified version of an earlier Czech model that were given a reinforcing metal stock plate to make the gun more suitable for use in the rugged alpine terrain for which they were intended to be used. They are a rare World War II carbine and quite popular with collectors. This example is in fine-near excellent condition and would make a splendid addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
