Description:
The Russian SVT-40, developed for use in WWII, is a short stroke gas rifle with the gas tube on top of the barrel, like you often see on more modern rifles.  It has a clever magazine release that can be locked down and out of the way by flipping the lever backward.  In good shape for its age and history, barrel shows good rifling.

This rifle is a 1940 Tula (the better of the three factories.)  The plum bolt and electro pencil shows that it was arsenal refurbished at the end of WWII, and put into long term storage by the Soviets until it was sold as surplus.  Most of the 1940 and 1941 Tula manufactured rifles had grooves cut on the sides for a scope mount, making them more desirable for anyone interested in installing a scope.
