Description:
Civil War Colt 1851 Navy Revolver  - Martial -  U. S. Navy marked - Cal;. .36 - 7 1/2" Bbl. - SN60XXX(1856) - all matching umbers. Bore is somewhat dark bur good rifling - action is excellent, nice and crisp with perfect timing and lock-up and tight barrel to frame fit.  Metal is excellent overall with no rust, pits, or corrosion and shows a few areas of mild discoloration - markings are clear.   Cylinder scene is worn off, but serial number is sharp as is the "US" stamp on left side of frame and the "USN " marking on the butt.  Metal has drifted to a pleasing gray patina.  Ivory grips are probably not original to gun, but are a perfect fit and are sound with signs of aging - left grip has a very tiny chip at lower edge and the right grip  has a very old repair at the rear. This is a nice example of an early 1851 Martial Navy  that actually went to the Navy and obviously saw use diring the war.  The "Navy" Navies are very scarce and difficult to find with any condition at all.  This one is all original except for the grips and is fully functional and should make a nice addition to a Civil war or early Colt collection.
