Description:
Serial #108883, 7.5mm Swiss, 23 1/4” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a very nice carbine that has matching numbers on the receiver, barrel, bolt, and magazine with the metal retaining 92-95% of the original blue finish that has silvered at the muzzle, on some of the high edges, and along the rear portion of the receiver. The bolt still has its armory bright finish with some light wear marks on the bearing surfaces, and the red-brown resin handle is intact. The wooden stock and handguard have numerous small handling marks and minor blemishes in the original oil finish, but the Swiss Shield is still crisp and clear on the right side of the butt. A Swiss identification tag is present under the buttplate which has the original owner's name, unit, and address on the obverse: “Gschwind Arnold/Ter Kp 609/Zurich/Verhaldenstr. 23” (Arnold Gschwind, Territorial Company 609, 23 Verhalden Strasse, Zurich); the weapon and soldier's serial numbers on the reverse: “KAR. 108883/B/A.H.V.417.10.353”. The carbine comes with its original lightly worn, but still fully serviceable, brown leather military sling, and an original sheet metal muzzle cover. This is a fine-near excellent, identified example of a Schmidt-Rubin carbine, and would make a great addition to a collection. Hard to see Import mark on the tang under the cocking piece. FFL or C&R
