Description:
Mortimer. Hammer Gun. 10 Gauge. Manufactured 1870s. “S.S. Northcote” ships gun. 32” Damascus barrels with strong pattern. . Side lever. A great piece of history. The “SS Northcote” was launched in the Saskatchewan River in 1874 , and was built for the Hudson Bay Co. as a light cargo carrying steamboat. In 1885 the Northcote was outfitted as a gun boat for use in the Reil Rebellion, until she was beached the following year. Several shotguns of varying gauges and make were purchased for use aboard the S.S. Northcote, and all bare the ships name engraved on the top barrel rib. Metal throughout is bright, crisp and clean. Rebounding hammers. Dolls head extension. Wood is excellent with all checkering showing very little wear. Original steel butt plate. Action is strong and tight. Bores are shinny and bright. Very special and impressive 10 gauge Antique
