Description:
On Hold Pending Funds / U.S. Colt Model 1862 Musket, serial # None, cal. 58 military musket. A very good looking Colt marked musket with bright barrel and lockplate. The lockplate is marked "1862" to the rear of the hammer, and "U.S./ COLT'S Pt F.A. Mfg Co/ HARTFORD Ct" in three lines in front of it. This musket has a 40" round barrel with a very good bore three barrel bands and a blade front and 3-leaf folding rear sight. Functions great! Wood is smooth with some dings and dents attributed to normal use and what looks like a small repair on both sides looking more like a ding than a repair to the wood. Comes with the correct Colt steel ramrod and has two sling swivels. Has nice markings, marked "VP" with "Eagle Head" and "1862" stamped on top of the chamber, also stamped "U.S." on top of the buttplate. Overall a nice Civil War Antique Musket in very good condition.
