Payment Types Accepted: Description: 15-17 BURNSIDE CARBINE 15-17 Made by the Burnside Rifle Co. Manufactured c. 1857-1865. 54 Caliber; percussion breechloader. The Burnside arms are of special collector interest due to the identity of their designer, Ambrose E. Burnside, Treasurer of Bristol Firearms Co. (Financial difficulties caused him to sell his interest June, 1859) and famous Union general during the Civil War. The cartridge is also unusual, having either a copper casing, or of tampered foil. Standard Model: the lock plate marked: Burnside Rifle Company Providence, RI. Serial # 14605 Condition: Overall very good condition gun with some very light corrosion on bbl and frame, finish has turned a pleasing brown patina, not been cleaned or buffed, lock is clean, bore has 50%, rifling and some corrosion, works fine, wood has usual dents, dings, scratches small sliver missing at front of forestock.etc. nice for a collector or shooter.
