Bore is somewhat rough with some darkening but rifling is very good - action is excellent, smooth and crisp with perfect timing and lock-up. Metal is excellent overall with sharp markings and no rust, pits, or corrosion and has drifted to a pleasing gray patina, not uncommen for those sidearms that saw sea sevice - cylinder scene is not visible, but serial number is clear - "US" and "USN" markings are sharp. Ivory grips are probably not original to gun but are a perfect fit - left grip has a very tiny chip at the lower edge and the right grip shows an old, nicely done repair to the rear - both grips show age marks and are sound and solid. A nice honest early martial "Navy" Navy with the scarce and desirable "USN" Naval marking on the butt that except for the grips , is all original and in VG+ condition - has seen service and honest use and will make a fine addition to a Civil War or early Colt collection.
