Description:
The subject Perazzi 20ga SCO/O is a small frame not a MX20 and can be found on pages 30/31 of my book "Perazzi Shotguns." It is very rare. Sold in 1984 at Pachmayr the gun has a non-selective fixed trigger, with dimensions of 1 1/2 x 2 1/4 x 14 3/8 over Pachmayr classic light brown pad. About 5mm cast off. But I am left handed and it comes up perfect for me. The engraving is nice of quail on the left and mallard's on the right; dog bust on the bottom in gold inlays by Zanetti. The gun has been hunted. Gold trigger is about 10% worn on the right inside edge. Barrel is about 98% with some blue marks from hunting in a couple of areas, 80% blue strength on the forend iron, handling marks on the forend wood with the main one just missing the checkering, 99% finish there; buttstock and forend are well figured and 5A wood. The checkering is perfect and nice not filled. The butt has some handling marks and some surface mars that can be seen sideways in the light. I see some wood roll or pressing behind the back top tang of the safety area with discloration but no cracking. No wood cracks anywhere for that matter. The gun has not been shot for a while so before shipping I will take the stock off, clean the action and relieve that area behind the top tang slightly if necessary to prevent future cracking there. I did shoot the gun at 5 Stand Sporting Clays last weekend and can report it functions well, shoots point of aim and very deadly on clays!!
Basically you have a good hunting gun here. If a 99% gun it would be near $30,000.00. I think the gun is fair priced at $14,750.00 It comes in its Perazzi plastic SCO period case with Briley chokes, choke tool and maroon gun cloths. I think you could spend maybe $2k to bring her back totally to new. For investment, sure do that. But for hunting, good to go. A rare bird this.
