Description:
Here's a beautiful little rifle/carbine that unfortunately has some originality issues. Although well done, close scrutiny reveals that the standard length barrel has been cut down to 20" Carbine length, then a front sight ramp carefully sculpted and soldered to appear integral with the barrel which it is not. Additionally, the wood has been nicely refinished. With that said, here are the specs: Serial# 42xxx 1942 with matching bolt. Rear bridge remains undrilled. .30 Gov't. '06 (30-06). Blue is nice with light wear in typical areas and some slight mottling toward muzzle end about 95% or better overall. Wood is 99% as refinished with excellent grain pattern. Correct factory sights and hood. Stock is factory inletted for the non scalloped Lyman 48 WJS peep with a filler in rear sight dovetail. Mechanical function and bore are excellent. There is no glass or routing of barrel channel. While not an investment grade collector piece, this is still a very fine rifle that looks fantastic on the rack or could be used as a fast handling shooter at half the price of an original.
