Original simple fixed buckhorn rear sight and worn down original dovetailed blade front, double set triggers. Most likely the unmarked lock is not the original to this rifle it does not have as much pitting and wear. The side screw is missing the original escutcheon and a faucet washer is holding the lock snugly to the stock. The metal is lightly rust pitted and the wood has a burned out area behind the nipple, and the area around the left side lock screw escutcheon has wood losses. It is in reasonable operational condition. Certainly not some high end collectors piece, but it is a genuine 1850s-1860 homesteaders hunting rifle that came out of Southern Utah. Great item for over the fireplace and should be displayed with a shot flask and powder horn. About Good, as described. $295. SOLD Antique: Yes |
