Description:
Serial #6561, 12.17 x 44mm, 37 1/4” barrel with a very good bore that has light freckling within the grooves. This “H” marked, Husqvarna-made rifle has retained about 80-85% of the original blue turning plum-brown on the barrel with silvering and fading at the muzzle as well as at the “H” marked breech. The frame has a mix of a mildly freckled gray patina that blends into the still rather bright original color case-hardening that remains on the sides of the frame. Mottled brown freckling is also present on the hammer and breechblock, and on the trigger guard as well. The birch forend has scattered small handling marks and minor blemishes in the attractive re-applied varnish, most noticeably a small, but deep, bruise on the underside just aft of the rear band, and there are a few spots of damage along the edges of the ramrod channel. The buttstock has a similar amount of minor surface blemishes in the military oil finish as well as some deeply incised issue/rack numbers on the left side: “16RB/No. 1011”. The rifle comes with its original cleaning rod and the action is fully functional. This is a very nice example of a Swedish military rolling block that still rates about fine condition overall. {Ref. “Remington Rolling Block Military Rifles of the World” by George Layman; 2010} Antique
