Description:
Inland M1 .30 carbine, serial number 50005xx, manufactured 1944. Barrel is Inland, dated February 1944, with a bright bore and an ME of 1/2. All parts are Inland on this one, including the oval cut low wood stock, all are described below. Overall this carbine is in excellent used condition-it looks like original finish on the metal and there are no import marks.

We test fired the carbine and it shoots great. You can see a video of our test firing at our YouTube channel, FernwoodArmoryTV.

The carbine has been disassembled, examined, cleaned and lubricated. Parts were clean for photos, coated with oil and greased where appropriate when reassembled.

Part Details:
  • Receiver: Jan 1944 –Aug 1944. Excellent used condition, no pitting, very little finish wear. Seems to be original finish but we can not guarantee this.
  • Barrel: marked “INLAND MFG. DIV. GENERAL MOTORS 2-44” with proof mark “P”. Flat of barrel also has some misc markings. Bore is bright like new, crown and riflings excellent. No indication that a bayonet lug band has ever been on this barrel. Barrel ME (muzzle erosion): 1/2
  • Front sight: marked “N”
  • Rear sight: L or flip type, marked “S” on left side. No stake marks, see closeup photos.
  • Bolt: flat, parkerized, marked “IO” lug
  • Firing pin: round, blued, marked “R.I.”
  • Extractor: blued, late type flat lip, marked “W.I.”
  • Barrel band: early narrow type marked “UI”, wide aperture swivel also marked “UI”
  • Trigger housing: milled, marked “INLAND” in logo box on right side.
  • Safety: pushbutton, unmarked

  • Stock: walnut, oval cut low wood, no M2 cut, marked “HI” in sling well, Inland crossed cannons stamp on right side. The condition of the crossed cannons indicates that the stock has never been sanded. No cracks, some dings and scratches, a few gouges unfortunately deep but overall still has extremely nice appearance. This stock had the common problem of a wood chip between the recoil plate thread insert and the trigger guard cutout. Fortunately, this was not lost and was glued back in, see closeup photos.
  • Handguard: walnut, two rivets, unmarked, no cracks, about average dings and scratches
  • Recoil plate: marked “DI”
  • Buttplate: unmarked, square checkering pattern
  • Magazine: 15 round, marked “II”
  • Sling: C-tip, completely unmarked, shows age and dirt but no rot, quite strong
