Description:
This one is dated 1825. They are sometimes called the model of 1822, but this is incorrect. This style was only manufactured from 1822 to 1831. They were finished brown rather than Bright as later models were done. It is a .69 caliber smooth bore Flintlock Musket. It comes with an original bayonet. The wood is really quite nice with only one minor chip at the back of the lock. The barrel has a sharp V.P. and Eagle. All the small parts are marked with the number 7. We believe this is the number of the armorer and not a serial number. The stock is marked on the left flat, U over W and V over hd. The markings on the lock behind the hammer are Harpers Ferry 1825 and in front of the hammer is an Eagle over a small U.S. There is some pitting on the lock, but all features are quite legible. Altogether, a great original Harpers Ferry Type II Musket. No International sales - US only. Buyer pays $35.00 shipping. Three day inspection allowed if returned UNALTERED. Antique – no FFL required.
