It remains unaltered and it undoubtedly saw Civil War duty. The Top of the breech writing is weak with some obliterated. The wood remain un refinished and proud of the metal surfaces. The original saddle ring is in place as is the original front sight and the sling swivel. The action works well and is crisp and tight. The original magazine tube is in good condition and functions correctly. The numbers matching 22” 6 groove barrel rates about a 4 inside with typical wear and pits. All of the rifling is present but weak in spot. There are traces of original finish in protected areas. The gun has a pleasing patina overall. The original butt plate has pits from being stood on its end year and year in storage.
