Description:
SOLD...  Antique 1893 Marlin. 32-40 caliber with some finish. Here is a very nice 1893 Marlin. Has the standard 26" octagon barrel. Is in the excellent and very accurate 32-40 caliber. S/N 95024 and made in 1893 so a  first year production... The bore is very fine and has very deep and sharp rifling remaining all the way. Just very light frosting and no pitting at all. NO rings or bulges. Mechanics are excellent. Feeds, fires and ejects perfectly. Shoots great as you would expect with this great bore and caliber combo. This nice ole 93 Marlin still retains about 50% actual bluing on the barrel. The balance of the barrel has turned to a plumb color and has thinned out on the edges. Still shows quite a bit of the bright blueing and has NOT all turn to plumb. I can send more detailed photos of the bluing if you need to see it better. I am limited to just 12 photos here. The receiver still shows some traces of case coloring as you can see in one of the photos. Has some nice brighter case colors on the lower tang as you can also see. The balance of the receiver has turned silver as faded case colors do with age. NO pitting any where on this gun. The original mag tube has been cleaned with no finish remaining for some reason. The markings are all excellent. Original front and rear sights. The lever has had an very old period of use   reinforcement repair to the front lower bend as you can see in the photo. It was done long before welders were invented.. A small piece of metal has been brazed  in to reinforce a very small crack. It is solid as a rock and will last another hundred years. This could be repaired better by heating up the brass and removing the piece of metal and then welding the small crack if so desired.. I personal would just leave it alone or swap out the lever with one from a parts gun. The wood is very nice also. The forearm is tight and still shows some thinning original varnish. No chips or cracks. The butt stock is very nice as well and fits tight with a couple honest dings and scratches from use. No splits or cracks. One very small chip at the upper tang as you can see.  All the wood still shows great reddish color and is not all oil soaked. All in all this is an above average antique 1st year production 93 Marlin. Still showing nice blue on the barrel and some case colors on the receiver for the money.. Much better than the gray brown no finish guns you see. Has a very fine bore and is in a great and very accurate caliber. I have it fairly priced with the lever repair in mind. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $50 insured double boxed shipping. Please view my other listings while you are here as I may have something else of interest to you and at a reduced price depending on the item. Thank you very much for looking as always.
