Description:

Elrod/Stickley Model 70 .338 Win Mag , Winchester Model 70 full custom by Mr. Winston Elrod with all metal work by Mr. Rick Stickley. Winchester .338 Magnum built on a Pre-War [1938] Model 70 action with Double Square Bridge bases utilizing Stickley custom lever release rings mounting a Swarovski 3x9x42 scope with duplex reticle. Custom checkered bolt release. Blackburn bottom metal. Custom bolt handle with floral end and four tear drop panels. All integral feature 24" barrel with banded ramp front sight, banded sling swivel stud, and quarter rib all machined from a single piece of metal. Stocked in American Classic style with shadow line cheek piece, point pattern 28 LPI checkering with mullered border, and ebony forend tip. Steel pistol grip cap and two screw inletted rear sling swivel stud. 13 5/8" LOP to a red Decelerator pad. 9lb 9oz with scope. This is an outstanding piece in very good overall condition. Mr. Elrod of Chesaning, Michigan has been making custom stocks for over 30 years. The inletting and checkering are superb. Mr. Stickley, unfortunately, is no longer in the gun industry. He worked for a number of years for John Bolliger of Mountain Riflery and did many of the integral barrels and ring systems seen on Bolliger firearms. You won't find an integral feature barrel at the local hardware store. They are rock solid and will not have anything come loose or fall off in the field. Mr. Stickley machined these by hand with lathe and milling machine. They are not CNC pieces. This gun represents the epitomy of American custom rifle building. The rear sight has not been filed in or blued. The gun has a few light dings. I don't know if it has been lightly hunted or not. Stock finish remains at 98%, blue at 98% and checkering at 99%  I also have a twin to this gun in .416 Remington
