Description:
Serial #2007, 7.65mm Para. (.30 Luger), 4 1/2” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some very mild freckling starting to form within the grooves. This is a “GERMANY” marked pistol that has all matching numbers, and retains 95-97% of the original commercial blue finish with just some mild silvering at the muzzle, along the projecting edges, and on the bearing surfaces of the toggle. Some very mild freckling is also present on the gripstraps, and about 80% of the original straw color remains on the take-down lever, trigger, safety, magazine release, and ejector with the balance of the metal having a bright, lightly speckled gray patina. The smooth walnut, Ideal grips are likewise in fine shape with only some minor handling marks and single light surface bruise on the right panel marring the otherwise excellent original oil finish. The pistol comes with an excellent original Ideal telescoping shoulder stock/holster that retains about 85% of the original blue with specks of plum-brown freckling, mostly around the sheet metal at the mouth opening, and some finish loss along the tubular braces at the top and bottom. The leather is in excellent condition with only a few very minor bits of crazing along the exterior, and there is only minor damage along the interior leather. The braces extend and contract smoothly and the spring catches click into place at either end surely and securely. The pistol and holster are housed in a period, put together lockable case with black flannel-lined interior, and brass luggage-style clasps. Although homemade, the case is also well made, and also contains an empty period .30 Luger cartridge box by Peters. The box is in good shape, but does have red and white stickers obscuring about 30-40% of the surface. This is an extremely handsome pistol in excellent condition with a fantastic example of an extremely rare holster and would make a wonderful addition to a collection of high end Lugers. FFL or C&R
