This is a handsome rifle that has retained about 95% of the original blue finish that has faded slightly at the muzzle and along some of the high edges and bearing surfaces. The bolt is finished bright and has only some minor pinprick pitting and faint freckling on the handle. The extractor has most of the original vibrant fire blue remaining with hints plum-brown starting to form along the edges. The walnut stock and handguard have been nicely refinished to excellent condition with some very attractive feathering within the grain and only a few minor handling marks and small blemishes. A clear "JSA/1901" cartouche is present on the left side of the wrist. The steel buttplate has been cleaned to an overall pewter gray patina mixing with a lightly freckled gray with some scattered pinprick pitting at the heel and both a metal oiler and segmented cleaning rod in the stock compartment. This is a fine example of a U.S. Krag-Jorgensen and would make a nice addition to a collection.
