Murata Type 18 11x60R caliber rifle. Japanese Infantry rifle issued in 1884. This was the same type of Single Shot weapon the Germans had in 1871. The Japanse were a closed country until the mid 19th Century but made huge strides in the last quarter to catch the Western world. This rifle is very rare in todays market. It is all matching and all parts are original. Bore is bright. Wood shows dings from use but is very nice. On the left side of the receiver is marked in Japanese ""Great Nippon Empire Murata Rifle"". Has mum on barrel. From an old collection that was in storage from the 1980's.
