Description:
This is one of the most elaborately engraved Marlins I have seen in years. No. 15 pattern featuring a large animal scene on one side with an elk being attacked by wolves. One is airborn and one has the elks leg. Lots of action in the scene. The other side is quite unique with a mountain lion attacking a deer. On the bottom is a bighorn sheep. Gun is trimmed out with numerous gold inlays and platinum inlays on bbl as well as the frame and the take down, lever, around the screws and on the hammer. G-style carving on the fancy burl wood in excellent condition with about 75-80% original varnish. Shotgun style buttplate. 26" full oct bbl and full length mag tube. Cal 45-90 with fine bore. Original sights include correct blade front sight, Marlin buckhorn rear sight and thick-base folding Lyman tang sight. Overall gun is in fine condition with traces of case color on receiver and the balance turning a nickel color. Considerable amount of original blue remains on the bbl. Beautifully engraved Marlin! Finer than most I have encountered. Excellent inside and out and would be hard to improve upon.
