Fries Swiss target rifle. Very fine extra heavy Swiss made target rifle marked ""I Fries in Bern"". The gun weights about 24 lbs with a 37"" Octagon damascus barrel of about .65 caliber. The metalwork is exceptionally fine.The lock is engraved with a charging beast with the front of the lock outlining the open mouth, a beautifully detailed sea serpent is inlaid on the reverse side, with a neo-classical urn design inlaid on the underside of the stock and leaf scroll engraving throughout. A very beautiful and ornate example of Swiss gunmaking.
