Description:
This first year production First Model has a 7-1/2" bbl. Square back trigger guard. 44 Cal. Standard brass backstap designating military use. Backstrap has holes for a shoulder stock. US marked below Colt's Patent on left side of frame. Walnut grips are worn but still fit well and are solid. Crisp action. Bore has light roughness. Cylinder is worn smooth. Back half of gun has matching numbers, front half is from another gun, also matching. Only 82 numbers apart! This gun has been together for most of its lifetime judging from the patina. Could have gotten mixed up when some soldiers were cleaning their guns by the campfire. A good Dragoon for not a lot of money.
