Description:
***   SOLD   ***   NEW PRICE   ***   Lofley was one of the premier provincial makers and this 16 double shows off all his talents. Beautifully and extensively engraved with highly figured walnut this gun is a joy to behold. Cased in a new oak & leather case with maker’s label. It weighs 6lb 5oz.   ***
The 30” nitro Damascus barrels are chambered for 2-3/4” cartridges and fitted with extractors. Topped with a concave game style rib the maker’s name is inscribed n it as follows: “George Lofley 37-1/2 Gallowtree Gate Leicester”.  The barrels are exquisitely engraved on the breech end. The right barrel is bored 0.675 with a constriction of .003 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.025. The left barrel is bored 0.681 with a constriction of 0.006 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.026.   ***   The gun is beautifully stocked in highly figured walnut. The straight grip stock is crisply checkered and the forearm has a nicely sculpted ebony tip. Stock dimensions are 14-1/4” to a metal plate by 1-1/2” by 2-1/4”. Cast off for the right hand shot.   ***   The wood and metal finishes are very good. There are a few handling marks on the wood and the trigger guard tang is somewhat proud of the wood. Overall the gun is in very good mechanical and cosmetic condition. One of the nicest engraving patterns I have ever had in inventory. This is a great English 16 bore barlock hammergun with fabulous engraving, beautiful wood, and great handling characteristics. Ideal for clays or game. Just in time for bird season!   ***   Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period and will only accept returns at buyer’s expense if the gun is not as described in the listing.
