Description:
This wood block filled carbine cartridge box remains in very good condition with mild crazing on leather surfaces and tight stitching. Outside flap shows remains of an oval inspectors mark. The inside flap has an illegible makers mark. An odd unusual marking is stamped on either side of the tiny front tool pouch. The wood block has twenty 58 caliber holes 1 1/4 inch deep. This wood block is probably a replacement . This is the early version with shoulder strap buckles on bottom. A nice dark patina shows on brass hardware with light verdigris on edges.
