Description:
Serial #266125, .30-40 U.S., 30” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome rifle that has retained 92-95% of the original blue along the barrel and receiver with some very mild fading along a few of the high edges and some minor graying at the muzzle. The magazine door has a slightly mottled patina at the corners with specks of freckling scattered about the edges. The bolt has even plum-brown freckling on the original armory bright finish, darker on the handle, but most of the original bright fire blue remains on the extractor. The rifle is equipped with 2nd type Model 1896 rear sight that has an overall freckled pewter gray patina. The walnut stock and handguard are in fine condition and have only minor handling marks and small blemishes marring the original oil finish as well as a still crisp “JSA/1900” cartouche on the left side of the wrist. The steel buttplate has nice original blue still remaining, although the balance of the metal has a lightly mottled patina. This is an excellent example of a late model U.S. Krag-Jorgensen and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
