Description:
Serial #246545, .45-70, 32 1/2” barrel with a very good bore that has some spots of mild freckling along its length. This rifle has an overall mottled gray patina on the metal with thin, plum-brown freckling present throughout. The lock and hammer have traces of muted color case-hardening with speckled gray-brown on the balance. The “MODEL 1873” marked, low arch breech also has a matching, mottled gray patina with dark brown freckling throughout. The walnut stock has numerous small handling marks and blemishes throughout the added dark brown oil finish and a still visible 1878 dated cartouche is present on the left side of the wrist. The action is still tight, the breech lock-up is firm, and the rifle is outfitted with an original metal ramrod. This is a great looking Trapdoor that is in very good condition overall. Antique
