Purdey & Sons, Audley House, South Audley Street, London: A 16 Bore Bar Action Sidelock Self Opening Side by Side Game Gun Finished in 1886, Very nice 30" Ejector barrels with a rib extension third bite, .672 .006 & .013" (Imp.Cyl. & Mod.), 2 1/2" chambers, Wall thickness on the right barrel at .030" & .031" on the left barrel, Modern London Proved in 1995 at 900 BAR with 2 1/2" chambers, Correct bore size relative the 1995 proof, Bushed strikers, Double triggers, Splinter forend with an Anson release, Straight hand stock at 14 11/16 x 1 5/8 x 2 3/16" over a 7/8" leather pad with plugs for easy removal, Cast-off for the right hand, Excellent wood with deep black/brown contrast, 6 lbs. 1 oz., 95% coverage of very unusual Purdey scroll engraving with carved leaves on the balls of the action, This piece remains in excellent condition and comes to hand with great handling abilities, The barrel blue at 97%, I am most positive it still has original case colors at 80%, The stock finish at 94%, The checkering at 95%, The bores are excellent plus. This piece with correct bores as proved in London in 1995, great wall thickness, ideal chokes and wood as strong as you could want. It remains smack on the face with a lot of bite left for extended game shooting. This is a very nice 16 Bore Purdey that handles great.
