Description:
Desirable  SMITH & WESSON "FIRST MODEL AMERICAN" .44 S&W, Six shot single action with 8 inch barrel. A total of 8,000 of these were manufactured in the early 1870's.  Retains 40% + of the Original Factory Blue Finish  (mostly on the frame and in the cylinder flutes)  mixed with a gray or brown patina on the balance. Traces of case color on the hammer. The grips are very good with some minor scratches. The barrel markings are clear. The cylinder locks up on half cock, otherwise mechanically fine, ejects, indexes and fires....
The revolver has a good bore with strong rifling, and the correct barrel address with all the patent dates.
