Description:
I want to sell my original Luger/MP-18, Second Type, Magazine; Ser# 701143, complete with accessories. The set consists of the Magazine, Loading Tool, Dust Cover, and MP-18 Adapter. Although the entire set is in good condition and good working order, it has seen sevice. They were used with the eight inch barrel Artillery Luger and the MP-18 sub-machine gun, both during and after WWl. The Magazine entered service in 1917, so with a short production run and poor survival rate, they are pretty scarce today, especially the dust cover, which is especially hard to find.

This particular magazine was made by the Bing Brothers of Nuremberg, Germany, indicated by the B/N stamped below the serial number on the non-handle side of the drum (Photo), and on the opposite side next to the handle (Photo). The left side of the magazine body is marked with a Crown over what appears to be a Gothic "S", inspection/acceptance stamp. (Photo) The blue on the magazine shaft shows some wear from use as seen in the photo. The Magazine Spring feels good and strong. I've never used or loaded this magazine, but did once wind the spring and lock it in place to assure myself it functioned correctly. It did. I might mention, these magazines were notorious for jamming in use. The Luger, of course, had a stick magazine, the MP-18 soon developed a stick magazine for its use, also.

The loading tool is marked with the B/N and what appears to be the Crown over "S". I've never used it to load the magazine but it fits properly and locks into place for loading. Note there is a knurled button similar to the Luger's magazine release button to release the tool from the magazine. Nothing much can go wrong with the loading tool, it's pretty simple.

The dust cover, the rarest part of this rig (except for the ultra rare cloth carrying bag) does not appear to be marked. It fits the magazine nicely.

The MP-18 adapter is, in actuality, a spacer required when used in the MP-18. It completes the rig, but is not necessary when the magazine is used with the Luger.

I've descibed this item as accurately as I can. I believe all I've said to be true. I'm a collector, this piece comes from my collection. If interested, I suggest a phone call. If no answer leave a message with a phone number, date, and time called. This is so there is no conflict as to who's call takes presidence. I will respond to all calls and emails even if the item has sold.

I cannot send this item to a State that has restrictions on magazine capacity. For all others, free shipping and insurance to your door. There's a three day inspection period. No disassembly. Keep it and shipping and insurance are free. Return it with no questions asked, and buyer pays shipping and insurance both ways, plus the listing fee ($10.00). This only affects those with buyer's remorse.

Sorry, no sales outside the US.
