Description:
SOLD ** Weatherby XXII, Italian, .22, Mint with 2 clips

Collectors, this is an early Italian Weatherby XXII, made by Beretta. All original, it is the rarest configuration without the rosewood forend tip and the rosewood pistol grip cap – shaped incredibly similar to the popular Sako Standard Rifle stock, and more highly sought-after today in lieu of its “gaudy” counterparts.

It comes with 2 magazines: the near flush 5-round clip and the 10-round clip – both made for the gun.  This gun is in near mint condition.  The bore is perfect.  These are great rifles for training that new shooter because of the selector that allows the rifle to be controlled as a single shot or as a semi-automatic.

In addition to the super condition, the stock has a nicely-carved pistol grip and a perfectly-shaped monte carlo comb that is sculptured into a pleasantly shaped cheek piece. The forend shape is a direct copy of the popular Sako rifles of this era and the meticulous checkering is by hand in the pleasing and hard-to-execute skipline patterns. The wood is dark French Walnut brown, much more pleasing than that found on the Japanese versions, and not as gaudy as those stocks with the rosewood and white-spacer furniture. For a .22, this stock work is unbelievable and gives the gun an overall rich look found only on high-grade center-fire rifles. It carries the original 1” sling swivels and checkered steel buttplate at 13 ½” LOP.

The 23” barrel is fitted with a fine silver bead front sight on ribbed ramp and includes a 3 leaf rear sight with 1 standing and 2 folding set at silhouette ranges.

Rifle is shown here wearing a classic Bausch & Lomb 2.5-8x big game scope and has been sighted in.  In an indoor range without cross-wind, this rifle shot better than 1 MOA with high velocity ammo.

These XXII’s have become collector guns known for superb accuracy. Just compare the structure of the clip with that of one from a Japanese gun, and you can see “Beretta’s hand” in its making.  This is a shooting investment and is sure to increase in value over time. Having your money tied up in it is like having your money and playing with it too.

Price: $950 with both clips, scope, rings and Butler Creek scope covers.
