Description:
For sale is a .45 Caliber, First Generation "U.S." marked Colt SAA, serial number #121372. This number would place the gun in the late 1880s. The serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and butt match. The finish is faded but not rusty, the case colors are also faded but still discernable.

The 7 1/2" barrel is a replacement. It has a four digit number, 0020, placed under the ejector housing (Photo). The address line is the early "script" type as used on earlier SAA revolvers (Photo), however the barrel does not have the earlier positioning hole for the early type ejector housing with a positiong tab; the housing and barrel have only provision for one screw as with later guns. The bore is bright, no frost or pitting. The barrel, under the cylinder base pin, is stamped with an "A" and "P" (Photo). The ejector spring is the original "straw" colored spring.

The cylinder is stamped with the same "A" and "P" as the barrel (Photos). The cylinder stops are not excessively worn. It locks and aligns well. The action seems smooth.

The left side of the frame has a three line patent date and is "U.S." marked. The three screw heads are not chewed up. The faded case colors can still be seen. (Photo). On the right side, the loading gate has the "assembly" number 165 stamped on it. Case colors are still evident on this side and on the hammer as well. Inside the hammer well is stamped with a "G" (Photo). Above the serial number on the frame are the initials "SEB" (Photo).

The grips are one piece, tight fitting, walnut. They are in good shape with only some minor dings. The bottoms have no dents. Inside the backstrap groove is an undiscernible inked number. The lower end of the right grip side is stamped "SEB" (Photo).

There it is. I've tried to be thorough with my description. Being over 125 years old, I have to sell it as is with no guarantees. Although I have fired this revolver to check its functionality, I'm not selling it, or recommending it, as a shooter. I think it is a good, representative piece of history. It shot well, by the way. Trigger is fairly lite. No misfires. I used 30gr of 3F and a 255gr cast lead bullet lubed with a black powder bullet lube. I am not a marksman by any means, but I fired four rounds at 25 yards to get a group. It shot high at that yardage. To get the group in the photo I used no windage and point of aim was at the bottom of the seven ring. One photo is the target at 25 yards and the other is the group I shot.  Again, I'm no marksman, a good shooter could have probably tightened that group up.

I'm offering this revolver for $2550.00. Free shipping and insurance to your door. There's a three day inspection period, no shooting and no taking apart other than normal cylinder removal. Keep it and shipping and insurance are free. Return it with no questions asked, and buyer pays shipping and insurance both ways, plus the $10.00 listing fee. This only affects those with buyer's remorse.

If you call and get no answer, leave a message and a phone number, I will get back to you asap.

Sorry, no sales outside the US.
No shipment to States where prohibited.
