Description:

Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are over the top proud to offer this stunning example of Uncle Dan Lefever's coveted C grade hammerless side by side shotgun. One of my favorite collectors was about to send this beauty off to one of the big online gun sales, and I talked him into letting my friends at Guns International having first crack at it. This fine double, made in the year of our Lord 1902, is in wonderful condition. The complex high grade Damascus pattern is vivid, the 28 inch bore is gleaming, and the gorgeous figured walnut has only the lightest of handling marks. Best of all, the highly detailed engraving is sharp and easy to see. You won't haven to squint to see the beautiful game scenes and scroll. These later C grade guns had as much or more engraving than the early A grade, and they are in good company. The C grade is equal in original price and level of finish as an LC Smith grade 4 or a Parker BHE. The trigger guard alone has more engraving than most modern high grade shotguns all over. She also boasts cocking indicators, automatic safety, and ejectors to toss the empties. Lefever had patented the first truly automatic cocking hammerless shotgun in 1883, and then patented the automatic ejector. The Lefever also features a series of adjustments to keep it always on face and working like new. This shotgun has seen some use in the last 113 years, but received good care, as well. The stampings are clear and sharp, the lever resides well right of center, and the fine checkering is still in good shape. All components bear the serial number 38828.  In the rear tang of the trigger guard, a screw is placed through the serial number. That  appears to be a factory modification, with the serial number extending onto the screw. The drops are 2 and 3 1/4 inches, and LOP is 13 1/2 inches to the Lefever plate. Chambers are 2 5/8 inches, with choke restrictions of 8 and 12 thousandths. Minimum barrel thickness is about 30 thousandths. With RST loads, she can still put dinner on the table. She tips the scales at less than 6 1/2 pounds and is a pure pleasure to carry and point. The 12 gauge guns came in 3 frame sizes, and this one is slender and light. Even the matting on the top rib is artwork to behold, described as perfection when it was developed. These high grade sideplate Lefevers rarely see the marketplace, and they are likely the hardest to find of the American doubles. I usually compare my listing to other guns on the market, but this is the only Lefever C grade for sale anywhere on the internet. They fetch higher prices every year, and represent one of the best investments in guns. If you have been looking for the right Lefever Arms double, with all the features and in a well preserved state, then look no further.
