Description:
A very early Flintlock pistol of about 1690 from a quality maker in need of restoration. The gun is about 21 " long overall, with a 13 1/2" long top engraved barrel of about 60cal. The European walnut wood is completely carved and is missing the trigger guard but has a fancy cut iron side plate. The iron butt-cap doesn't have the butt screw and is loose. The early banana shaped lock fully engraved, works and snaps. The lower part of the butt has profuse intricate wire inlays.Models like this with a faux cleaning rod were often ship board used by pirates, as there wasn't enough time to reload when boarding so one shot was used and the gun was used a club!
