#7609, Holland & Holland, 98 New Bond Street, London: A H&H 12 Bore Bar Action Rebounding Hammer Toplever Game Gun Made about 1883, It now is with new 30" extractor dovetail lump barrels that are English Tig Sleeved Steel Barrels and Proved in Birmingham to 1 1/8 ounce with 2 1/2" chambers, Then in 1996 it was proved in London to 850 BAR with 2 3/4" chambers, The barrels are at .724 .033 & .037" (Full & Full), 2 3/4" chambers, Wall thickness on both the right & left barrel at .040", Percussion fences, Splinter forend with a Deeley & Edge forend release, A straight hand stock at 15 x 1 9/16 x 2 7/16" over a 1 1/8" leather pad with plugs for removal, Cast-Off for the right hand, Great game gun weight at 6 lbs. 14 oz., 80% coverage of very nice period engraving, Strong wood that was completely refinished before coming to the U.S., The modern & new barrels retain 99% blue since done and the barrels inside & out are brand new with excellent striking, This piece has inletting that remains solid in every respect, The wood remains at 99%, The checkering is 100%, It is cased in a modern leather trunk with modern trade labels. Here is a neat and graceful 12 Bore H&H game gun that has a new life with new barrels. This piece was totally done in England and came to these shores in 1996 or 1997. ////////////////////////////// This gun is 1 of 14 patents issued to William M. Scott and is #2752 and so marked. It pertained to Scott's spindle used to connect the top lever and double locking bolt and referred to as the "Scott Spindle". It is the 33,547th frame built under Patent #2752. The spindle patent #2752 of 1865 has had great influence throughout the history of breech loading guns and will live on as long as man carries a sporting game gun afield.
