Description:
The subject Perazzi SHO Extra Type II sidelock special order shotgun 12 gauge 29 1/2" serial number 5531 engraved by Iora and M. Gabelli. The firearm is new condition to mint. The game scenes are cut with game scenes of wonderful Mallard Ducks landing on the water on the left lock and Dog flushing a Snipe on the Right lock, with a fine scene of a Pointer retrieving a pheasant on the bottom of the action by Master engraver M. Gabelli. A best work and well executed. Borders are perfect by Master engraver F. Iora, one of the best known engravers of our time and past president of the Master Engravers guild in Italy. A fine, fine work. Both Master engravers have signed their work.
All metal surfaces are engraved except under the top lever. The border work is of a floral design and chisello and stipple or deep chisel and stipple background giving relief to the fine border work by Iora.
The Forend iron is chisel and stipple blued metal and fitted into 4A rated wood well figured. Perfectly done.
The Receiver is satin finish fully engraved with hunting waterfowl scenes depicting mallard ducks, Snipe and Pheasant as related; 8 in all and two dogs.. 6 on one sidelock plate with cattails vegetation in a full hunting scene; 1 pheasant on the bottom in mouth of a dog in a full field scene and another dog in different scene on the other lock plate. Full coverage engraving depicted in the 1992 catalog and a discontinued model gun in 1993.
The Buttstock is SCO Extra grade wood or 5A with checked black pad over a 14 3/8” pull length. Dimensions are: 1 3/8 x 1 3/8 with 1/4 cast Off. Perfect marble black vein figured Circassian walnut hand picked by Daniele Perazzi personally in Turkey. Right hand thumb groove here and small grip tell THIS is a professional gun not a piece of iron.
The Grip is a full competition grip and well executed by Francesco at the factory.
Forend Wood is well figured 4A to match and a beavertail design.
Internal wood fitting was by Abbati at the factory. It was tuned, regulated and assembled by him as well. He is one of the finest craftsmen in Italy. Coupled with the finest factory stock maker Francesco, completes this artful Perazzi shotgun. Work like this, unlikely will never be seen again.
The barrels weigh 1.560 kg and have a biore of 18.4cm, flat competition rib.

For those unfamiliar with a Type I versus a Type II the difference is major. A Type I is a Holland Lock. Parts were made by hand and except for a few I have in the rough none remain today at the factory. But a Type II has MX8 shared parts such as firing pins. I consider the Type II to be a shooting machine and state of the art of shotguns....You want to shoot something else? Try that again. There are no finer shotguns and none as robust as a Perazzi SHO Type II. Period....So you take this shotgun and shoot it. It will never fail you, and if something ever breaks I will send you replacement parts or service the shotgun for free. It is one of the very best shotguns ever made. So IF YOU are interested in the best professional sidelock gun ever made, this is that shotgun. Speak to me about nothing else.
